Granite Mountain Hotshots Crew, Prescott, AZ Last Call June 30, 2013“Eternal Remembrance,” a framed artwork by Prescott Certified Picture Framer Francine Hackerott at The Frame And I, won the 5th Annual Tru Vue Framing Competition award for her beautiful tribute to our Prescott 19, killed in the Yarnell Hill Fire in 2013.

The Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshots Crew, based in Prescott, Arizona, were a unique firefighting unit that are now forever remembered by how they lost their lives.  However, just 2 weeks prior to the Yarnell Fire, the GMIHC worked the Doce Fire in Prescott and among all the hard work they did to save the town, they also saved what is believed to be the world’s oldest, living Alligator Juniper Tree located on Granite Mountain (their namesake.)

Saving that Juniper tree, and the iconic photo of the Hotshots laughing in pyramid formation afterward, are what inspired Francine to create her memorial frame.  The frame is carved from Juniper wood and also incorporates a photo from Rhonda Snyder who did an incredible job of documenting the Tribute Fence spontaneously erected after the Prescott 19’s Last Call on June 30, 2013.  The Tribute Fence was located at Fire Station #7 which the GMIHC called home.
